Free Medical Equipment Pickup in Metro Detroit
Have usable medical equipment you no longer want? Everlift may be able to pick up qualifying equipment from your home at no charge.
Free pickup isn't guaranteed — send photos and we'll tell you whether your equipment qualifies.
What decides whether pickup is free
We'd love to say yes to everything, but we can only take equipment we can safely clean, refurbish, and put back into service for local patients. So every request gets a quick review, and a few things decide the answer.
Everlift Mobility may accept qualifying used medical equipment at no cost to the owner. Some higher-value equipment may also qualify for a cash offer.

- Equipment type
- Beds, lifts, lift chairs, wheelchairs, and scooters are what local patients need most. Small, inexpensive items are accepted less often on their own.
- Condition
- It needs to work, or be close enough that a reasonable repair puts it back in service. Missing critical parts usually rules an item out.
- Current demand
- If we already have plenty of a certain item on the shelf, we may pass for now even if yours is in good shape.
- Location
- We run routes through Metro Detroit. Addresses farther out may be harder to schedule, though it's always worth asking.
- Cleanliness
- We sanitize everything, but we can't take items with bodily fluid contamination, mold, pests, or heavy smoke exposure.
- Accessibility
- Ground floor or garage is easiest. A narrow staircase, a tight turn, or no parking nearby changes the picture.
- Removal difficulty
- A heavy bed in a second-floor bedroom takes more time and people than a wheelchair by the front door. That's weighed against what the item is.

Check whether your equipment qualifies
A clear photo of the whole item and a sentence about where it sits in the house — garage, first floor, up a flight of stairs — answers most of our questions before we ask them.
We cover Metro Detroit, from Waterford and Pontiac to Madison Heights and Warren.
Submitting doesn't guarantee acceptance or pickup. If we can't take it, we'll let you know so you can try another option.

Looking for free medical equipment instead?
If you searched for free used medical equipment near you because you need something, this page is about the opposite direction — but here's where to look. Many communities have medical equipment loan closets, often run by churches, senior centers, or volunteer groups, that lend walkers, wheelchairs, and bathroom safety items for free or a small fee. Your local senior center or Area Agency on Aging can usually point you to the nearest one.

Free pickup FAQ
Do you offer free medical equipment pickup?
For qualifying equipment, yes. Free pickup isn't guaranteed — it depends on the equipment type, condition, current demand, your location, cleanliness, and how difficult removal will be. Send photos and we'll let you know.
Why isn't free pickup guaranteed?
Every pickup costs us a truck, a crew, and time, and everything we take has to be cleaned and put back into service. If an item can't be reused, or removal would be unusually difficult for what it is, we may not be able to take it. We'd rather tell you that up front than after a wasted trip.
Can I donate equipment to Everlift?
Everlift may accept qualifying used medical equipment at no cost to the owner. Everlift Mobility is a for-profit company and is not a charitable organization.
Is equipment given to Everlift tax deductible?
No. Equipment provided to Everlift should not be treated as a tax-deductible charitable donation. If a tax deduction matters to you, give the equipment to a qualified charitable organization instead.
Will you take a bunch of smaller items along with a bed?
Often, yes. Items like rollators, overbed tables, and shower chairs are more likely to be accepted as part of a larger pickup than on their own. List everything in the form and include a photo of each.
Can you remove equipment from a basement?
Often, yes. Tell us where the equipment is and whether stairs are involved. Very heavy items on stairs may affect whether we can accept them, so photos of the path out are helpful.
I'm looking for free medical equipment for myself. Can you help?
We don't give equipment away, but local medical equipment loan closets — often run by churches, senior centers, and community groups — lend items like walkers, wheelchairs, and shower chairs at little or no cost. If you need something like a hospital bed or patient lift for a set period, renting from us is another option.
What happens to equipment after pickup?
Accepted equipment is inspected, cleaned, and refurbished or repaired as needed. From there it may be rented to local patients, resold, used for parts, or recycled — whatever puts it back into service safely.
What areas do you pick up from?
Metro Detroit — Detroit and communities across Oakland, Macomb, and Wayne counties — roughly from Clarkston and Lake Orion down to Livonia, and east to Clinton Township. If you're outside that area, send the details anyway and we'll tell you whether we can make it work.
