How we decide whether to make an offer

We rent equipment to families who are bringing someone home from the hospital or caring for a parent long-term. When we buy used equipment, it's because we can inspect it, refurbish it, and put it back to work for the next patient — so the questions we ask are practical ones.

We don't publish a price list, and we can't promise an offer before we've seen the item. Two hospital beds that look alike in a listing can be very different underneath: one has three working motors and a clean frame, the other has a pendant that only does half its job. Photos let us tell the difference.

Everlift Mobility may accept qualifying used medical equipment at no cost to the owner. Some higher-value equipment may also qualify for a cash offer.

What goes into an offer

Brand and model
Some manufacturers hold up and are easier to source parts for. The label tells us a lot.
Age
Newer equipment has more service life left. A rough guess is fine if you don't know exactly.
Condition
Frame, upholstery, tires, and mattress all matter — cosmetic wear is different from damage.
Functionality
Does every motor, function, and control work? Do batteries still hold a charge?
Current demand
What local patients are asking us for right now. This shifts over time.
Replacement cost
What the same item costs new is part of what it's worth used.
Resale or rental potential
Whether we can realistically refurbish it and put it back into service.

Equipment we're most interested in buying

These categories are the most likely to qualify for a cash offer when they're in good working order. Being on this list doesn't guarantee an offer — and being off it doesn't rule one out — but it's a fair guide to where to start.

Selling a bed specifically? Here's what makes a hospital bed worth an offer →

  • Full-electric hospital beds
  • Quality lift chairs
  • Patient lifts (especially electric)
  • Power wheelchairs
  • Mobility scooters
  • Bariatric equipment
  • Specialty wheelchairs
  • Higher-end pressure relief systems
  • Other higher-value durable medical equipment

Selling to us vs. selling it yourself

Both are reasonable choices. Here's the honest tradeoff so you can pick what fits your situation.

Listing it on a marketplace

  • You set the price, and you may get more for it than a business would offer.
  • You'll field messages and questions, and some buyers won't show up.
  • Strangers come to your home to look at it.
  • Heavy items like beds and power chairs usually need to be disassembled and carried out by you or the buyer.

Requesting an offer from Everlift

  • One form with photos instead of a listing and a string of messages.
  • Our offer may be lower than a private sale, because we refurbish before reuse.
  • If accepted, our team handles disassembly and removal.
  • If it doesn't qualify for cash, we'll tell you whether free pickup is an option.

A note on supplies: if you searched for who buys used medical supplies, we don't. We focus on durable equipment. Unopened, unexpired supplies are better suited to a loan closet or clinic that accepts them.

How selling to Everlift works

  1. 1
    Send photos

Tell us what equipment you have and upload clear photos.

  2. 2
    We review it

We look at equipment type, brand and model, age, condition, completeness, current demand, pickup location, accessibility.

  3. 3
    We make a decision

Free pickup, a cash offer, a request for more photos, or a polite no — you'll hear back either way.

  4. 4
    We arrange pickup

If it's accepted, we coordinate the removal directly with you.

Request a cash offer

The brand and model label, a photo of the controls, and a quick note about what works and what doesn't are what move a review along fastest. If you're not sure what to photograph, the guides below list it by equipment type.

We pick up across Oakland, Macomb, and Wayne counties — whether you're in Troy, Shelby Township, or anywhere in between.

Submitting is free and doesn't commit you to anything. It also doesn't guarantee an offer or pickup.

Please note: Everlift Mobility is a for-profit company, not a charitable organization. Equipment provided to Everlift is not a tax-deductible charitable donation.

Request a Cash Offer

Tell us what you have and add a few clear photos. We'll review it and let you know whether it qualifies for free pickup, a cash offer, or neither.

Selling used medical equipment: FAQ

Who buys used medical equipment near me?

Equipment rental companies, medical equipment resellers, and private buyers on marketplace sites. Everlift Mobility reviews equipment from Detroit, Oakland County, Macomb County, and Wayne County homes and makes cash offers on certain newer, higher-value, or in-demand items. We don't publish fixed prices — every offer depends on the specific equipment.

How much will you pay for my equipment?

We don't publish fixed prices. Offers depend on brand, model, age, condition, whether it works, current demand, replacement cost, and whether we can rent or resell it. Many items qualify for free pickup rather than a cash offer.

Do I have to accept your offer?

No. An offer is just an offer. If it doesn't work for you, say no thanks — there's no obligation, and you're free to sell the equipment elsewhere.

Will you buy my hospital bed?

Possibly. Full-electric beds in good working condition are among the items most likely to qualify for a cash offer. Older or semi-electric beds more often qualify for free pickup instead. Send photos of the bed, controller, and motor and we'll tell you which.

Do you buy power wheelchairs?

Power wheelchairs are a priority category for cash offers, especially newer models whose batteries still hold a charge. Include the charger and a photo of the joystick and batteries.

Do you take mobility scooters?

Yes. Scooters that drive, with the key and charger, may qualify for a cash offer. Scooters with dead batteries may still qualify for free pickup depending on the model.

What if my equipment doesn't qualify for a cash offer?

Many items that don't qualify for cash may still qualify for free pickup, which at least gets the equipment out of your home without hauling it yourself. If it doesn't qualify for either, we'll tell you so you can move on to another option.

Do you buy medical supplies?

No. We only consider durable equipment — beds, lifts, wheelchairs, scooters, and similar items. We don't buy or accept disposable supplies, open sterile supplies, or medications.

Is equipment given to Everlift tax deductible?

No. Equipment provided to Everlift should not be treated as a tax-deductible charitable donation. If a tax deduction matters to you, give the equipment to a qualified charitable organization instead.
