Mobility Scooter Pickup in Metro Detroit

Scooters have a way of ending up in the garage once someone stops driving them. If yours still runs — or might, with a charge — send us photos. Scooters that drive, with the key and charger, are a strong cash-offer category, and others may still qualify for pickup.

Six things to check before you send photos

With scooters, a few quick answers make the difference between a fast decision and a round of follow-up questions.

1

Does it drive?

Turn the key, set the speed dial low, and try forward and reverse for a few feet. Note any warning beeps or flashing lights.

2

Charger and key

These are the two things most often lost. A scooter with both is much easier for us to put back into service.

3

Battery condition

If you know when the batteries were replaced, tell us. If not, a photo of the battery label usually shows a date code.

4

Weight capacity

Printed on a label under the seat or on the frame. Heavy-duty scooters with higher capacities are worth noting.

5

Does it come apart?

Travel scooters split into the seat, battery pack, and two or three frame pieces. Full-size scooters usually don't, which affects how we move them.

6

Tires, seat, and tiller

Flat or cracked tires, a torn seat, or a wobbly tiller aren't automatic no's, but we want to see them.

Send photos of the scooter

A side view of the whole scooter, then the tiller and controls, the batteries, the charger and key, the seat, and the tires. If you can find the model label, add that too.

Choose "Either" under what you're looking for if you're open to free pickup or an offer — we'll tell you which one fits.

Submitting doesn't commit you to anything, and it doesn't guarantee acceptance, pickup, or an offer.

Review My Scooter

Tell us what you have and add a few clear photos. We'll review it and let you know whether it qualifies for free pickup, a cash offer, or neither.

Scooters stored in a garage or shed

Most of the scooters we hear about have been parked in a garage, and Michigan winters aren't kind to batteries. That's normal. Cold, dead batteries are a common, fixable issue; what we're watching for is rust on the frame, mouse nests under the shroud, and water damage to the controls.

Full-size scooters are heavy with the batteries in and won't fit in most cars, which is why removal is half the reason people reach out. If yours is accepted, we bring it out ourselves — whether that's from a garage in Sterling Heights or a basement walkout in Northville.

Before we come out

  • • Set the scooter in freewheel mode if you know how, so it can be rolled.
  • • Put the key, charger, and any baskets or cane holders with it.
  • • Take out anything personal from the basket or under the seat.
  • • Clear a path from the scooter to the garage door or driveway.

Mobility scooter pickup FAQ

Do you take mobility scooters?

Yes. Scooters that drive, with the key and charger, may qualify for a cash offer. Scooters with dead batteries may still qualify for free pickup depending on the model.

The scooter hasn't been charged in a long time. Should I try?

Yes — plug it in with the original charger overnight and see whether it powers on. Scooter batteries that sit uncharged for months often won't recover, and that's okay. We'll factor the battery into our review either way.

I lost the key to the scooter. Is that a problem?

It makes things harder, but it isn't always a deal-breaker. Many scooters use a simple key that can be replaced, while others need a specific part. Tell us the brand and model and we'll let you know.

Do you take 3-wheel and 4-wheel scooters?

Both. Three-wheel scooters turn tighter indoors; four-wheel scooters are more stable outside. Let us know which you have, along with the weight capacity from the label.

What happens to equipment after pickup?

Accepted equipment is inspected, cleaned, and refurbished or repaired as needed. From there it may be rented to local patients, resold, used for parts, or recycled — whatever puts it back into service safely.

Is equipment given to Everlift tax deductible?

No. Equipment provided to Everlift should not be treated as a tax-deductible charitable donation. If a tax deduction matters to you, give the equipment to a qualified charitable organization instead.

Can I donate equipment to Everlift?

Everlift may accept qualifying used medical equipment at no cost to the owner. Everlift Mobility is a for-profit company and is not a charitable organization.
